David Wernick, Faculty Advisor
Dr. Wernick is Senior Lecturer in Management and International Business at Florida International University’s College of Business. Dr. Wernick is the author of numerous academic and policy-oriented studies on global business and politics. Prior to joining FIU, Dr. Wernick worked as senior analyst with a Miami-based international security consultancy, and was director of communications for the Americas Society and Council of the Americas in New York. Dr. Wernick has also served as managing editor of the Latin America Advisor, a daily intelligence brief for senior executives of Fortune 500 companies with investments in the Americas. Dr. Wernick received his B.A. in Political Science from Tulane University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from FIU.
Daniela Rodriguez, President
Daniela was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Later moved to Miami, FL in 2014 to pursue a medical degree. As a current senior majoring in biomedical engineering fulfilling a pre-medical path, she is an active member of Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity and current president of the International Business Honor Society. Daniela has been a member of IBHS for two years and had the privilege of traveling to India as Secretary on Spring 2017. Additionally, she has an internship at South Beach Vision as a technical optician trainee, shadow and scribe for Dr. Rigoberto Franco (internal medicine), and performs optical research on campus with Dr. Shuliang Jiao. Some of her hobbies include tennis, snorkeling, and boxing.
Tatiana Wong, Vice President
Tatiana was born in Costa Rica and moved to Miami in 2007. She is currently a Junior at Florida International University, pursuing a Bachelor Degree of Accounting. She is passionate about helping others and making an impact in other people’s lives. She is the Vice President and has been part of the International Business Honor Society for a year now. In the future, she hopes to work for a prestige accounting firm and to give back to the animal community by adopting puppies in need of a home. In her free time, she loves to go to the beach and to explore the outdoors. Her favorite quote is “We rise by lifting others” by Robert Ingersoll.
Claudia Garcia, Head of Fundraising
Claudia was born in Güines, Cuba and came to the United States when she was ten years old. Throughout high school, she grew an interest for business and enrolled at Florida International University in Fall 2016 to pursue a degree in Business Administration. Claudia has been an active member of the International Business Honor Society for a year. She works for a small transporting company in Miami and currently interns at Omnifortuna, an international marketing company. Claudia has grown a love for travel and exploring new cultures. Her hobbies consist of dancing, photography, and watching Game of Thrones.
Izabela Bos, Marketing Director
Izabela is a sophomore, double majoring in International Business and Marketing. She is a proud sister of Alpha Xi Delta, past logistics committee member of Relay for Life, and has been an active member of the International Business Honor Society for about a year. Izabela grew up in Deerfield Beach, Florida but later moved to Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Her dream has always been to attend Florida International University and graduate into a job that dealt with the aspects of marketing around the world. Izabela loves to go do artistic projects, play soccer, and go to the beach on her free time with sisters. Additionally, she is in the process of getting into an internship for a marketing company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Natalia Ocampo, Secretary
Natalia is a senior from Colombia studying Economics and Marketing. She is very passionate about numbers, relationships, and how they all come together as one. She is also passionate in giving back to the community. Her position ties in all the things she loves into one function which is why, with the help of her committee, she has created a plan to successfully raise funds for the service trip to India.
Mateo Palacio, Treasurer
Mateo was born in Medellin, Colombia and arrived in the United States in 2011. In 2015, he moved to Miami to pursue my Bachelor in Business Administration at Florida International University. I am currently double majoring in Finance and International Business. Since the year of 2015, Mateo has been a member of the International Business Honor Society and part of the executive board acting as treasurer since August 2015. He has interned at several companies and government entities such as the City of Miami Beach, SeaLand, and Brightstar Corp, where he is the current credit analyst. Additionally, he was able to experience firsthand the work and outreach of IBHS by participating in this year’s International Spring service trip to the village of Bandhwari, India. Mateo is extremely proud of how far the organization has progressed since he became a member and the limitless possibilities of where the organization can expand. On his free time, you can find Mateo practicing mountain biking, scuba diving, and tennis.
Cesar Rodriguez, CSO Representative
Cesar was born and raised in Tampa, FL. Earned an Associate’s Degree at Hillsborough Community College. Soon after, served in the United States Marine Corps as an artillery man earning the rank of Sergeant. He then continued his education by transferring to FIU to pursue a degree in Business Management. He strives to later earn his Master of Science in Entrepreneurship at UF. Now as a senior, he has been with IBHS for a year and is now the CSO Representative. He is also a member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society. He is currently an intern at J&M Paving, Inc. as a Project Dispatch Assistant. He enjoys soccer, fishing, hiking, camping, reading, social events, community service, and going to the gym.
Jurgen Vargas-Nieri, Junior Apprentice
Jurgen is a junior, studying International Business here at Florida International University. He was born in Lima, Peru and came to the United States in December 2005 at eight years old. Additionally, Jurgen lived in Pennsylvania for a year and in 2015 he attended La Salle University in Philadelphia for his freshman year of college. After a long year, he decided to transfer to Florida International University in the year of 2016. According to Jurgen, this was probably one of the best decisions he made because he truly enjoys the Miami weather, as well as, living on campus. Jurgen has been a proud member of the International Business Honor Society for almost a year now and is excited to work with the rest of IBHS this year.
